Four weeks to go until the MK50 Sport Gala Dinner and we have already received nominations from sports clubs for some phenomenal “unsung heroes”. Some particularly worthy nominations received so far are:
- This person has been maintaining a bowling green for many years, giving up many hours each week to prepare a first-class green for several hundred members to enjoy each week of the season. In addition to his greenkeeping, this nominee also coaches under-17s, providing succession and sustainability for the club.
- We cannot mention the sport for this nominee as there is only one club in MK! This nominee undertakes several roles: coach, referee and player, as well as being the club’s chairman!
- Disabled sport helps people with physical and mental impairments to have a better quality of life by providing opportunities to undertake activity with the support of others. The nominee in this case has helped a stroke victim by transporting him to his club for over 20 years. On some occasions, he has also helped run the sessions when the usual organisers are unavailable, so enabling club member to enjoy their regular activity, which means so much to them.
The above are just a few examples of unsung heroes. Does your club have an unsung hero, or two? We still want to hear from clubs, who should send their nominations of up to 250 words to MK50sport@mkdonsset.com. Those nominated will enter a draw to be invited to attend the Gala Dinner as our special guests.
Events such as this need support to succeed, and we are delighted to announce that Sports Direct International is to be our headline sponsor. This market leader decided to partner with the Gala Dinner as they believe that celebrating the last 50 years is the start of the next 50 years. As such, they want to work with sports clubs, sportswomen and sportsmen to help them achieve even more. Sports Direct International will use its presence in Milton Keynes to assist schools and community clubs to offer an even greater range of sporting opportunity.
As well as nominating unsung heroes, we are inviting sport clubs, associations and corporates to attend the Gala Dinner to share the memories of 50 years of sport. With over 300 people already committed to attend – why not join us? Tables of 10 cost just £600 + VAT, and we can accept orders for partial tables. So find a friend and come on down to the Doubletree Hilton on Thursday 29th June.
Due to Sports Direct International’s generous sponsorship, we are able to offer clubs and associations a discounted table rate, please enquire for further details. For tickets and table bookings please contact MK50sport@mkdonsset.com.
